Hurricane Heartbeat
A live directory map of campus events, resources, and clubs — launched in beta at the University of Tulsa, August 2026.
What it is
Hurricane Heartbeat is a live directory map for college campuses and the communities around them. Dallas is solo-developing it; it launched as a campus beta at the University of Tulsa on August 20, 2026. Students get filtered exploration and semantic search over events, activities, resources, and student clubs on a single map.
Content arrives two ways: scheduled ingestion and aggregation of web, social-media, and institutional sources, plus on-demand community contributions with feedback and content flagging. An admin/moderator portal reviews what comes in, and LLM entity tagging and auto-enrichment via the Anthropic API fill in the gaps.
Stack: Flask, sentence-transformers, Mapbox GL, SQLite mirrored to Turso libSQL, Cloudflare R2, Docker on Hugging Face Spaces with CI deploys.
Status
Campus beta live at aiml-club-tu-hurricane-heartbeat.hf.space. Built under the AIML@TU banner alongside the Hurricane Hackathon series (I in May 2026; II planned for October 2026).
